Why I Chose the University of Pittsburgh

I was looking for a program with excellent people, clinical volume, complex cases, and field-defining research. UPMC ticked all the boxes and then some! My prior research focused on understanding and intervening against excessive inflammation in various pathologic processes, and UPMC is a world leader in exploring these ideas in the surgical realm. On top of that, the department has clinical leaders in all sub-specialties, and everybody I met on my interview, from interns to program leaders, seemed genuinely happy and friendly.

Non-Academic Accomplishments

I love all things outdoors, dogs, traveling, and endurance sports. My "career" highlights include: Oxford Varsity Rower (winners, Lightweight Boat Race, 2013); Ironman 70.3 World Championships Qualifier 2019; and ITU Duathlon World Championships Qualifier, 2020
