Event Description

Title: Optimized Rodent Model of a Low Rectal Anastomosis for Regenerative Medicine Product Testing

My translational work focuses on modeling rectal anastomoses to develop novel regenerative solutions to reduce anastomotic leak rates. I will review results of our initial studies using an extracellular matrix hydrogel. We are currently delving into the mechanisms involved in reducing leak rates. Recent collaborations involve the evaluation of advanced stem cell delivery devices for colorectal applications. Time permitting, I will discuss work investigating matrix bound nanovesicle isolation and characterization from gastrointestinal sources.
