"Novel Wearable Vascular Monitoring Devices: Current State"

Date

November 14, 2023 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Event Description

Title: "Wearable Monitoring Devices in Patients with Lower Extremity Bypasses: Improving patency rates and clinical outcomes"

Wearable technology has been a proven adjunct in the field of cardiology in monitoring arrhythmias and early detection of cardiac pathology.  The aim of this talk is to make a case for the development of monitoring devices in vascular surgery.  While there are multiple use cases including carotid disease, dialysis access maintenance and aortic aneurysm disease, there exists a specific clinical need amongst patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and lower extremity bypasses.

We will also be discussing a few other ongoing projects, including characterizing the natural history of intramural hematomas, a process within the spectrum of aortic syndromes that are well-known, but poorly understood. Additionally, we will be analyzing the effects of a vascular-specific ERAS protocol as the rollout is implemented throughout the system.
