Research, Clinical, and/or Academic Interests

Better defining the role of molecular markers in thyroid cancer patients. Dr. Yip's research group is looking at the utility of molecular marker testing in fine needle aspiration biopsy specimens and how to improve the ability to diagnose thyroid cancer preoperatively in order to optimize the initial surgical approach. They are also interested in evaluating how molecular markers can help differentiate between aggressive and non-aggressive thyroid cancers, which should help to tailor management algorithms for thyroid cancer patients.
