Platelet Mitochondrial Studies in Trauma/Whole Blood Supernatant Characterization

Date

December 7, 2021 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Event Description

Presenter: Jay Srinivasan, MD (mentors: Drs. Matthew Neal and Susan Shea)

This talk will provide updates regarding multiple ongoing basic and translational projects. One set of projects evaluates platelet mitochondrial respirometry within the trauma patient population and seeks to better characterize the potential contribution of mitochondria to the platelet dysfunction seen following severe trauma. The remainder of the talk will focus on a study that aims to evaluate the hemostatic properties of the plasma supernatant produced when a unit of cold-stored whole blood is converted to a unit of red blood cells towards the end of its storage life.

Location and Address

Virtual via Teams. Meeting invite shared with individuals inside the Department of Surgery. Anyone outside the department who would lke to access the lecture, please contact Erin Francis for meeting info.
