Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery

The Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery Division treats the highest number of bariatric cases within the UPMC health system and conducts extensive research and teaching activities. The group specializes in minimally invasive bariatric surgical procedures including: gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, gastric sleeve and revisional surgery, and the intragastric balloon. The division is designated as an MBSAQIP (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program)-Accredited Comprehensive Center with additional Adolescent Qualifications through the MBSAQIP, sponsored by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery/American College of Surgeons.
